As I read the articles for this week, and reflected on my own use of technology, I realized that I get more excited by it than I realized. I really do like technology and the articles and class discussion have inspired me to want to use it more. Ther are many ideas running through my head of how and when I can use it in the classroom and in my own personal use. However, my thoughts slow down once I realize that there is so much I don't know and don't have access to. For example, many of the websites and technologies mentioned in the articles, I had never heard of. My curisoity has been sparked and I know in order to fully incorporate technology into my classroom, I am going to need to get professional development in the use of the technology. If that doesn't work, I will need to explore it on my own. Personally, what interest me is learning how to use the Smartboard better, incoporating videos and recordings into different content areas, use some sort of online audio reading program to help my struggling readers, etc.
I am very exicted about the changes that could potentially take place in my classroom and look forward to trying some things out little by little. After reading the articles on UDL, I realize that incorporating this technology and finding ways to offer endless possiblities of "presentation, participation and expression" are essential. I believe that UDL shows us the true meaning of differentiation. Now I have to learn how to navigate combining that philosophy and technology, while still meeting my school's expectations. I feel that this is where it will become most difficult. In a traditional public school setting, with limited resources and funding, it will require a lot of planning and pushing to get access and allowance to try everything that I have been inspired by in the articles.
