Blog-tastic!

How true it is what Richard Elmore said about adult learning. From my thoughts, professional development should be something that interests teachers. We should be allowed to choose what we want to spend our time learning. It feels like it is now just another mandate to fulfill!
In the section about Wikis and Blogs, I agree with the idea that they are great educational tools. One of the technological professional development I need is making a blog and using the opportunities to read others' blogs. I love the idea of blogging because of the challenge it provides. The article states, "Bloggers spend significant time pushing their own thinking—and having their thinking pushed by others. They respond to comments and link to other writers, connecting to and creating interesting ideas." My challenge would be to use a site like Pageflakes, which really overwhelm me. However, I feel that if I invest some time in understanding the layout, I may be able to use it to my advantage professionally. At the same time, I also think I need to train myself on the usage of new media such as Twitter so that I can figure out ways to engage students and apply the different digital learning experience attributes to my students.
